Candle Vessels
To clean candle vessels effectively and eco-consciously, start by removing as much wax as possible from the container without using water.
This can be done by scraping out the wax with a spoon or butter knife or by freezing the vessel to make the wax harden and shrink, allowing it to pop out more easily.
Top Tip: Preserve leftover wax in a recycled jar. Gather a variety of remnants, then melt, and transform them into a brand-new candle for endless ambiance.
For any remaining residue, use a paper towel or cloth to wipe out the vessel.
If necessary, warm the vessel slightly on a radiator, or with a hairdryer, to soften the remaining wax, making it easier to remove with a cloth.
Avoid rinsing wax down the drain, as it can solidify and cause blockages.
You can also use vinegar for an eco-friendly cleaning solution that helps dissolve residual wax.
Then for a deeper clean, use warm, soapy water and a cloth or brush to clean the inside of the vessel.
Ensure all wax and residue are removed before considering recycling or repurposing the vessel.
Reed Diffusers
Cleaning and repurposing reed diffuser vessels is a fantastic way to embrace sustainability and minimize waste. Here’s a guideline on how to do it effectively and safely:
- Empty and Clean the Vessel:
Begin by ensuring every last drop of liquid in your reed diffuser vessel is used up.
All of the reed diffusers and liquids we sell utilise augeo, which is a sustainable and biodegradable solvent, widely recognized for its eco-friendliness and safety.
Once used up, clean the vessel with warm, soapy water, using a bottle brush to reach the inside.
Rinse thoroughly with clean water to ensure all soap residue is removed. - Repurposing Ideas:
Once cleaned, the vessel can serve a new purpose. Consider using it as a small vase for fresh flowers, a holder for new reed diffusers, or even as a stylish pen holder.
For an upcycling project, you could decorate the outside of the vessel to match your home decor. - Proper Disposal:
If the vessel is no longer usable, research local recycling guidelines using the resources on this page, to determine the best way to dispose of it.
Many glass or ceramic vessels can be recycled, but check if your local facilities require any specific preparation.
